Bascement Plus

Bascement Plus is a Portland composite cement, CEM II/B-M (P-LL), produced in Slite.

Bascement Plus is a cement mixed with natural pozzolan, which has reactive properties similar to cement and can therefore replace part of the cement in the finished product.

The advantage of natural pozzolan is that it has no environmental impact, unlike the main raw material of cement, limestone, which produces carbon dioxide when processed in the cement kiln. The inclusion of natural pozzolan in the new Bascement Plus significantly reduces CO2 emissions.

Bascement Plus can be used in most common concrete applications, such as house building, where climate-friendly concrete is required.

• Natural pozzolans are volcanic materials that have cement-like properties and are used as admixtures in concrete and mortar. The best known natural pozzolans include volcanic ash, which has been used since ancient times to improve the strength and resilience of building materials. The volcanic material is extracted from Heidelberg Materials' quarries in Iceland, where it is available in large quantities and is therefore a long-term resource.
